Notable_instruments =Evildead was an American
thrash metal band based inLos Angeles , born from the ashes of two bands,Agent Steel and Abbatoir.History
Evildead was formed in 1987, after guitarist Juan Garcia and bassist
Mel Sanchez leftAgent Steel , with the intention to do music more in a thrash metal vein than their old band, which had aspeed metal sound. Evildead followed aVio-lence /Sacred Reich style, with lyrics exploring political and social themes mixed with horror/nuclear war themes. They took their name from theSam Raimi horror filmThe Evil Dead .In 1988, the band got a deal with the European metal label
Steamhammer Records and released and EP titled "RiseAbove " (a 3-track EP; the title track is a cover of Black Flag) in the same year. They followed it up with their debut full-length album "Annihilation of Civilization " in 1989. A promotional videoclip was launched for the title track, and it received some airplay onMTV 'sHeadbangers Ball .After touring to support the album, the band returned to the studio to record their second and last studio album, "The Underworld", which was released in 1991. They released a live album taken from the tour, "
Live...From The Depths Of The Underworld ", in 1992, but was their last release due to thegrunge movement that was emerging at that time, which was displacing many forms of 1980s heavy metal andhard rock . Two years later, Evildead disbanded.After the band split up officially,
Carlos Medina and Juan Garcia reformedAgent Steel , but still play together with Evildead members in a band called Terror, which has one full-lentgh album and an EP, with all songs in Spanish language.Evildead reunited in 2008. The line up is Chris Malaki, the new singer, Rob Alaniz (original drummer),Mike Caro(Original guitarist), Mel Sanchez(Bass), and Juan Garcia(Guitarist) According to Rob Alaniz the band plans to record a 3 track promo in the near future.
