HRH Princess Ari'i-'Otare Teari'i-maeva-rua II (
28 May 1871 -19 November 1932 ) was the "Ari'i-Rahi" (chief) of theTahiti an island ofBora Bora from 1873 to 1932.The third daughter of Prince
Tamatoa-a-tu (Tamatoa V) , Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a and Princess Moe-a-Mai, Ari'i-'Otare became the ruler of Bora Bora on the death of her aunt PrincessTeari'i-maeva-rua I , Ari'i-rahi of Bora Bora. She married PrinceTeri'i Hinoi-a-tua Pomare , Ari'i-rahi of Hitia'a in Bora Bora on9 January 1884 and was divorced in 1887. Ari'i-'Otare produced no children of her own, so adopted her two younger step daughters; PrincessRehu-rehu Tuheiava and PrincessItia Tuheiava .She was deposed by the French on
19 March 1888 but remained the head of the royal house of Bora Bora until her death.
