After Garfield glues Odie’s
head to a table, Jon punishes him by sending him to bed withoutfood . Jon then remarks something about wishing Garfield could live in his shoes so that he could realize what it’s like putting up with him, while Garfield tells himself that he would like to switch places with Jon because hislife "isn’t" so easy. They both then go tosleep .
They wind up in the samedream but with switched places: Jon is acat (albeit with his own head on Garfield’sbody ) that thinks instead of speaks, and vice versa. After utilizingFur Elise to wake Garfield up so that he can makebreakfast , Jon causes various acts of trouble including eating Garfield’sdoughnut (after he already ate several pancakes) and shoving Odie off the table.
Garfield scolds Jon for trying to eat the neighbor’spet , and soon afterwards, he gets several telephone calls about bad things that Jon had done around the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Jon twists Odie’s ears up into apropeller and sends him flying out thewindow . After Garfield leaves the house to chase after him, Jon barricades thedoor , then decides to sell the house for a down payment inlasagna when he eats everything in it.
During the chase, Garfield passes several neighbors that are complaining to each other about Jon’s antics. The neighbors blame Garfield, and they come after him just as he successfully catches Odie. Garfield pinches himself to wake up from his nightmare. Jon wakes up and crashes into Garfield. They are both relieved that they are their normal selves, and when Odie walks up, they are further relieved that they’re not "him."Quotes
Mr. Atweiler: It’s that cat of yours again. He tried to eat my fern last night.
Garfield: That’s no big deal, a cat trying to eat aplant .
Mr. Atweiler: Fern is not a plant. She’s atoucan .Jon: Well, look at that! That's really terrific! Garfield, how did you teach Odie to do that?
Garfield: I glued his head to the table.
Jon: Garfield, you have got to stop doing these things! I am going to send you to bed without your supper.
Garfield: I've already had my supper.
Jon: No, wait; you've had your supper already...Jon: Garfield, I'm so glad I'm me.
(Garfield and Jon hug)
