HMS "Cook" (K638) a Bay-class
frigate of the BritishRoyal Navy . She was named for the famous explorerJames Cook . She was originally laid down as the Loch-class vessel "Loch Mochrum", and re-ordered as "Pegwell Bay" while building. She was completed as "Cook", a survey vessel for dealing with the large numbers of uncharted wrecks and mines around theBritish Isles as a result ofWorld War II . For this purpose she was fitted for minesweeping.
