22 March 1966 ;Jūrmala ,Latvia ) is aLatvia n politician and former Foreign Minister of Latvia. University of Latvia (1992 ) and a Ph.D. in political science fromUniversity of Aarhus ,Denmark (1996 ). After finishing his Ph.D., he became therector of Vidzemes augstskola, a newly founded regional college located inValmiera ,Latvia . He has taught at Vidzemes Augstskola since then. He has co-authored two books: "Latvia: Challenge of Change" (2001) and "The Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania" (2002), both of which are published byRoutledge .Pabriks joined politics as one of founding members of
Tautas Partija ("People's Party") in1998 and became a member ofSaeima , the Latvian parliament in March 2004. He was appointed the Foreign Minister onJuly 21 ,2004 , and he resigned from that position in October 2007.References
