Atlantic Coast Football League

Atlantic Coast Football League

The Atlantic Coast Football League (ACFL) was a minor football league that operated from 1962 to 1971. After suspending operations for 1972, the ACFL played a final season in 1973. Until 1969, many of its franchises had working agreements with NFL and AFL teams to serve as farm clubs. In 1965, three of the franchises joined with five teams from the United Football League to create the Continental Football League. After the Continental League folded, several of its teams joined the ACFL in 1970.

Joe Rosentover served as league president. He had served in the same capacity for the American Association from 1936 to 1950.
