nihongo|"Equinox Flower"|彼岸花|Higanbana" (1958) was Yasujiro Ozu's first film in color. (Japan's first color film, Keisuke Kinoshita's Carmen Comes Home, had been released in 1951.) The film is based on a novel by Ton Satomi. The movie's titular flower is a Lycoris.

Wataru Hirayama is a wealthy businessman who acts as a go-between for couples seeking arranged marriage, but is both unprepared and unhappy when his daughter decides to make wedding plans on her own.
