Chang Klang ( _th. ช้างกลาง) is a district ("Amphoe") of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, southern Thailand.

History

The district was created on July 15 1996 by splitting the three southeastern "tambon" from Chawang district [cite journal|journal=Royal Gazette|volume=113|issue=Special 18 ง|pages=32|title=ประกาศกระทรวงมหาดไทย เรื่อง แบ่งเขตท้องที่อำเภอฉวาง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ตั้งเป็นกิ่งอำเภอช้างกลาง|url=http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/DATA/PDF/2539/E/018/32.PDF|date=June 26 1996|language=Thai] .

Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts [cite news|url=http://www.manager.co.th/Politics/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9500000055625|publisher=Manager Online|title=แถลงผลการประชุม ครม. ประจำวันที่ 15 พ.ค. 2550|language=Thai] . Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Chawang, Lan Saka, Thung Song and Na Bon.

Administration

The district is subdivided into 3 subdistricts ("tambon"), which are further subdivided into 35 villages ("muban"). There are no municipal ("thesaban") areas, and 3 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
