Testament Records was a
Philadelphia , laterChicago , then Pasadena basedindependent record label founded in 1963 by Down Beat magazine editor and writerPete Welding specializing inAmerican roots music , releasing some thirty mainlyblues , but also gospel,country andjazz albums until 1977.In 1994 the Testament catalog has been acquired by
Hightone Records , and in the years to follow this label re-issued almost all Testament albums on CD, adding previously unissued bonus tracks where available.There's another "Testament Records" label residing in Great Britain not connected with the Welding label, that has released a number of historic classical recordings, including previously unreleased broadcast performances by
Arturo Toscanini and theNBC Symphony Orchestra . It has also issued DVDs of the digitally reprocessedkinescope s of Toscanini's 10 televised concerts on NBC from 1948 to 1952, adding sound taken from magnetic tape recordings of the broadcasts.ee also
