Curriculum

The school timetable is delivered over a 25 period week, with 5 periods each day. Each Period consists of a 1 hour session.

Key Stage 3

Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils must study either French or German, the school is currently doing a fast-track GCSE where the aim is that at the end of Year 9 each student will take a full GCSE paper in their respective language. This system was introduced due to a decline in the number of students taking MFL subjects. If a student achieves an A* to C in their language they are given the option to take this further in Year 10 & 11 to hopefully achieve an AS level qualification in the subject.

Beckfoot are also trialing a Media Studies fast-track GCSE where the intention is that at the end of Year 9 the student will achieve a Media Studies GCSE grade A* to C. This will be achieved by completing coursework in Year 8 and preparation for the Exam in Year 9. This GCSE will be completed in standard English lesson and does not require any additional lessons to achieve the qualification.
