Point of Rocks Bridge

Point of Rocks Bridge

The Point of Rocks Bridge is a two-lane, eight span steel truss bridge that carries U.S. Route 15 over the Potomac River between Loudoun County, Virginia and Frederick County, Maryland. Point of Rocks Bridge is located at Point of Rocks, Maryland at the Potomac water gap in the Catoctin Mountain ridge. Built in 1937, the bridge is of a type called a camelback truss, so called because the upper chord of each span is polygonal with five slopes, with the resulting arch resembling a camel's back.
