Brent Glass

Brent D. Glass is director of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, since October, 2002. Glass holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1980), a Master's degree from New York University (1971) and a Bachelor's degree from Lafayette College (1969)

Prior to attaining his current position, Glass was Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for 15 years (beginning in 1987). Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the North Carolina Humanities Council.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. [ [http://www.lafayette.edu/news.php/view/7483/ Glass ’69, Holran ’88 Elected to Board of Trustees ] ]

His brother, Keith Glass, is an author who wrote "Taking Shots: Tall Tales, Bizarre Battles, and the Incredible Truth About the NBA". Tony Kornheiser, the noted television and radio personality and columnist for the Washington Post, was a childhood friend of Brent and Keith Glass as they were growing up on Long Island and wrote the foreword to "Taking Shots".
