Brent D. Glass is director of the Smithsonian
National Museum of American History , since October, 2002. Glass holds aPh.D. inPhilosophy and History from theUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1980), aMaster's degree fromNew York University (1971) and aBachelor's degree fromLafayette College (1969)Prior to attaining his current position, Glass was Executive Director of the
Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission inHarrisburg, Pennsylvania for 15 years (beginning in 1987). Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the North Carolina Humanities Council.He is a member of the Flight 93 Memorial Commission. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at

Tony Kornheiser , the noted television and radio personality and columnist for the Washington Post, was a childhood friend of Brent and Keith Glass as they were growing up on Long Island and wrote the foreword to "Taking Shots".External links
