Thermosynthesis

Thermosynthesis

Thermosynthesis is a mechanism proposed by Anthonie W. J. Muller making use of free energy from temperature gradients for thermodynamically unfavoured anabolic reactions (doi:10.1016/0079-6107(95)00004-7). Such a kind of energy conversion could have played an essential role during the earliest events in the origin of life.
