(1979)|"Phyllis Hyman" is the self-titled solo debut studio
album by American Soulsinger-songwriter Phyllis Hyman . It was released byBuddah Records in1977 (see1977 in music ).Album information
After recording a memorably gloomy cover of
The Stylistics ' 1971 hit "Betcha By Golly Wow" that appeared onNorman Connors ' 1976 "You Are My Starship" album, Hyman was signed to Buddah and began work on her debut. The album featured the hits "Loving You, Losing You," a mid-tempo disco groove and "I Don't Want to Lose You," an emotional heart-rending R&B ballad (originally recorded by The Spinners). "Phyllis Hyman" has since been taken out of print and is difficult to find today.Track listing
