Lyana Armstrong-Emery

Lyana Armstrong-Emery

Lyana Armstrong-Emery is a former Gibraltarian politician, and the former party leader of the now defunct Gibraltar Reform Party, a left-of-centre and pro-ecology party with a close association with the Green Party of England and Wales. As her party held no seats in the House of Assembly, she did not have status as an official member of the opposition.

She and her party strongly supported Gibraltarian representation in the Parliament at Westminster and in the European Parliament. Other campaigning themes of the Reform Party were proportional representation, devolved integration of Gibraltar with the UK, anti-sexism, fair treatment for sexual minorities, greater rights for non-EU residents and a radical restructuring of tax and benefits systems. In the 2004 European Parliament election, she secured a place on the Green Party list for the South West and Gibraltar region, the only Gibraltarian candidate; this helped the Green Party to third place in the election in Gibraltar.

Lyana Armstrong-Emery is no longer a party-politician. Instead, in November 2005 she became Co-ordinator of Friends of the Earth, Gibraltar.
