AM Radio is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California.

History

AM Radio, formed in Los Angeles in late 2001, is led by vocalist Kevin Ridel, guitarists Rowan Robertson and Jason Moore, and drummer Joe Higgins. Their fun-loving yet well crafted live performances helped them to sell thousands of copies of their self titled, independently produced debut record. In 2003, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, an old friend of Ridel's, invited AM Radio to open for Weezer's big summer tours in both North American and Japan. After building serious road credibility with Weezer, Third Eye Blind, Eve 6 and The Psychedelic Furs, AM Radio was signed by Elektra Records.

Influences

Frontman Kevin Ridel has played in bands since age 14, and most recently created a name for himself in the LA music scene with his band Ridel High, and then later, Peel. Rowan Robertson, who was in his first band at the age of 8, was the lead guitarist in the 90's for Dio and fellow guitarist Jason Moore has been playing in various bands, including Sherman. Joe Higgins has been drumming in rock bands since he was sixteen, and has been with Kevin Ridel in both Peel and Ridel High.
