- Gilbert Plass
Gilbert Norman Plass (1921?-2004) was a Canadian-born
physicist living most of his life in theUnited States . He graduated fromHarvard University in 1941 and earned a Ph.D in physics fromPrinceton University in 1947. Later, he became a professor at Texas A&M University. In 1956 and onwards Plass published a series of articles on the effects ofcarbon dioxide as agreenhouse gas , and the potential implications of an increased concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere forglobal warming . The articles were partly based on advanced calculations of the absorption ofinfrared radiation, and Plass made use of early electronic computers.References
