Ronnie Cuber (born
December 25 ,1941 inNew York City ) is primarily a jazzbaritone saxophonist . He has also played in Latin, pop, rock and blues sessions. In addition to baritone sax, he has also playedsoprano sax andflute , the latter on an album byEddie Palmieri . As a leader, Cuber is known forhard bop andLatin jazz . As a side man, he has played with numerous musicians, such asB. B. King ,Paul Simon , andEric Clapton . Marshall Brown 's Newport Youth Band in1959 , where he switched from tenor to baritone sax. His first notable work was withSlide Hampton (1962 ) andMaynard Ferguson (1963 -1965 ). Then from1966 to1967 , Cuber worked withGeorge Benson . He was also a member of theLee Konitz nonet from1977 to1979 .
