JIET

Jaypee Institute of Engineering and Technology (JIET) is a constituent center of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Himachal Pradesh (set up by Act No. 14 of 2002 vide Extraordinary Gazette notification, Govt. of HP dated May 23, 2002 and approved by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC act). This is one of the three institutions of higher learning in the field of Degree level Engineering education established under the Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS) educational initiative which recognizes the role of IT and emerging technologies in improving the quality of life of the people of India. JIET's location at Raghogarh, in Guna district is a well thought out process. This region, currently in a rural setting with strong agricultural activities is likely to grow as a major industrial hub. JIET is being developed as a major center to provide competent, well trained technical manpower to the region.

The JIET campus on the national highway linking Agra to Mumbai is being developed on a 100 acre as modern institution of higher learning in the field of engineering and technology education. The foundation stone of this institution was laid on March 15, 2002 by the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Digvijay Singh. The complex is being built on a well thought out "Seven Phase" plan to make it a self sufficient, vibrant modern center of excellence with the mission of providing an excellent quality of Undergraduate and Postgraduate education, with a strong emphasis on research and innovation and close interaction with the industry. It aims to produce professionals who can be leaders in innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and management. The first academic activities of JIET started in the year 2003. Presently, the institute offers 4 year (8 semester) B.Tech Programmes, M.Tech. (By Research) Programmes and Doctoral Programmes in Chemical engineering, Civil engineering, Computer science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication engineering. The Doctoral Programmes are also available in Mathematics and Physics streams.

The institute has a modern campus, well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories and library, which provides a pleasant and intellectually stimulating ambience for students in eco-friendly environment. Special emphasis has been laid on developing an environment highly conducive for

The Institute aims to offer the complete educational spectrum of programs in emerging technologies at the degree levels. Research in emerging areas of technology is a major thrust and is leveraged for all academic pursuits.

Infrastructure

JIET campus has been designed for total connectivity of all its systems. All the blocks of JIET premises including hostel and accommodation, are connected via LAN through the latest IBM and Compaq Servers (IBM Xeon 2.8 GHz, Dual Processor, Server RAID 6i Controller, 4.0 GB RAM, 5x73 GB SCSI Hard Disk). The switching has been implemented through latest Extreme switches with fiber as backbone and E-Cat6 for desktop connectivity. It has a Computer Centre with 135 nodes (Latest IBM PC) operating on Unix, Linux and Windows environment. The computer center provides advanced computing facilities to the academic and administrative community of the college, conducts and supports application development projects and other services like counseling, finance, pay-roll, students registration through ISSEI software developed by IT division of Jaypee Group.

The center plays a vital role in helping to keep the Institute at the leading edge of information technology by continuously upgrading its facilities. The center is equipped with hardware facilities like Intel based multi-user Unix system, NetWare LAN, WINDOWS NT network, Over 20 licensed software products are available to the users through central facilities. These include language compilers, database systems, visual tools, multimedia software's as well as software for scientific, engineering, business administration and planning applications.
