Canyon Ridge will become the second high school in Twin Falls alongside the existing Twin Falls High School. The school is scheduled to be open for the 2009-10 school year.

Plans to build Canyon Ridge High School were approved by Twin Falls voters in March 2006. The school name and mascot were selected by the Twin Falls School Board in November 2006. Construction on the school began in 2007. [ [http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2006/11/14/news_topstory/news_topstory.1.txt New high school gets name, mascot] ]

As it is still under construction, Canyon Ridge High School has not yet received a classification or conference assignment from the Idaho High School Activities Association, the governing body for Idaho high school sports. [ [http://www.idhsaa.org/directory/default.aspx IHSAA] ] The eventual classification will be determined according to the school's enrollment when it opens in 2009. However, it is speculated that Canyon Ridge will initially be classified as a 4A school (enrollment of 640 to 1,279) and be placed in a conference of other Magic Valley-based high schools alongside Twin Falls, Jerome, Burley, Wood River and Minico.
