Alpine foothills

The Alpine foothills, or Prealps (German: "Voralpen"/"Alpenvorland"; _it. Prealpi; _fr. Préalpes) can refer generally to any area of foothills in the Alps of Europe

It can also refer specifically to:
*The French Prealps, a group of mountain ranges in France
*"Voralpen" ("Préalpes"), a geographical region between the Swiss plateau and the Alps
*The Swabian-Bavarian Alpine Foothills ("Schwäbisch-Bayerische Voralpen"), southside of Germany
*The Salzburgian-Upper Austrian Alpine Foothills ("Salzburgerkammergutberge") in Austria, as a part of the Salzkammergut
*The Austrian Alpine Foothills ("Österreichische Voralpen", "Wienerwald") leading to the gates of Vienna
*The Eastern Foothills ("Östliches Randgebirge", "Pohorje") the borderline of the Alps to the Pannonian Basin in Austria and Slovenia
*The Southern Alpine Foothills ("Predalpe v Sloveniji", "Prealpi Italiane") of Slovenia and Italy. Italian Prealps are traditionally divided into:
**Prealpi Luganesi or Varesine
**Prealpi Orobiche or Bergamasche
**Prealpi Bresciane or Gardesane
**Prealpi Venete or Vicentine
