The Amarillo Dillas are a professional baseball team based in Amarillo, Texas, in the United States. The Dillas are a member of the United Baseball League, an independent professional league which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball. From the 1994 season to the present, the Dillas have played their home games at historic Potter County Memorial Stadium, nicknamed the "Dilla Villa."

History

The Amarillo Dillas were a charter member of the independent Texas-Louisiana League, winning the championship in 1999. In November 2004, the Dillas were dropped from the renamed Central Baseball League due to financial problems. The Dillas were replaced in the league by the El Paso Diablos. The Amarillo Dillas were brought back in 2006 as one of six charter members of the independent United League Baseball (ULB). The team is managed by former Texas-Louisiana League star Brady Bogart.

The Amarillo Dillas started its ongoing dynasty in 1994. The Dillas would have a normal season for a newcomer team in the Texas-Louisiana League, going 48-40. Over the next few seasons, the Dillas would prove that they were a powerhouse in the Texas-Louisiana League, claiming the Regular Season Champion title in 1995, 1998, and 2000. They would win the 1st Half Championship in 1997, but would get to the ultimate goal in 1999 winning the Texas-Louisiana League Championship. The Texas-Louisiana League would merge with the Central Baseball League in 2001, adding a few more teams. The Central League would begin the woes for the Dillas' dynasty. They would not make the playoffs until the 2003 and 2004 seasons, only to be dropped in the 1st round in 2003, and would fall in the championship to Jackson in 2004. Attendance would be the killer for this team, as the championship series against Jackson only averaged 846 fans. A neglected stadium, a city whose support had vanished, and a team who couldn't produce spelled doom for baseball in Amarillo. With the team seeming it would vanish, the United League stepped in for the challenge. The new Amarillo Dillas came in, renovated the entire stadium, including a new field, new seats, and a new team. The Amarillo Dillas came in their first season in the United League falling just short of a playoff spot in 2006. In 2007 the wacky United League playoff changes left the Dillas again one spot short of the playoffs. In 2008 the Dillas have turned things completely around and have turned Amarillo back into a baseball hotspot, averaging 3,500 fans per night, and have captured several corporate sponsors.
