The Indian Law Society's Law College, known as ILS Law College is a law school and legal institution based in
Pune India . It was established in 1924 and offers a wide range of courses, primarily the three year old law course and five year degree.History
The Indian Law Society was established in on 4th March 1923 as a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act. The Society established the
eponym ous Law College with an objective to provide facilities for the study of law on a scientific basis.The college was initially affiliated to the
University of Bombay but with the founding of theUniversity of Pune in 1949, the college became a constituent of the latter.ILS has produced many notable legal luminaries, and also houses some of the well-known legal faculty in India.
Facilities
The Law College has the largest law library in AsiaFact|date=April 2007. Housed on a separate floor of the Sarswati building, the ILS library contains 45,000 books and volumes of periodicals, journals and magazines.
The ILS campus is situated on a hill, and is spread over 195 acres of thick foliage.
Courses
In addition to the five-year degree course and the three-year degree course (for graduates in any discipline), the college also offers various diplomas and distance learning courses.
ILS is also part of the EU Law Poros program, 1st year students can also apply for this diploma course. The best students from the program get a chance to go on an exchange program to
