Association of Black Photographers
- Association of Black Photographers
The Association of Black Photographers (also known as Autograph ABP) is a British based, international, non-profit-making, photographic arts agency. The group's primary role is to develop, exhibit and publish the work of photographers and artists from culturally diverse backgrounds and to act as an advocate for their inclusion in mainstream areas of exhibition, publishing, training, education and commerce. The association produces its own programme of activities and collaborates with other arts organisations nationally and internationally.
The association was established in London in 1988 by artist Mark Sealy and photographer Rotimi Fani-Kayode becoming an influential organization which, through publications and exhibitions, has fostered the careers of many talented black photographers. [http://carlagirl.net/writing/rbp.html] Funding is provided by Arts Council England. Sealy remains the project manager for the group.
