Fritaja is a
Croatia n andSlovenia n dish. There are two different types: one is made withasparagus , eggs, andonion , while another is made with eggs andtruffle s. Both are speacialties inIstria .A similar dish, also known as "fritaja" or "frtalja", is also popular in western Slovenia (
Slovene Littoral ); here, the asparagus variant is known, but different herbs are also added.Both the Croatian and Slovenian names come from the
Venetian dialect Italian word "fritaia", which means "fried".
