Earl Farquhar

Earl Farquhar

Earl Farquhar was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1922 for the financier and Conservative politician Horace Brand Farquhar, 1st Viscount Farquhar. He had already been created a Baronet, of White Lodge in the County of Surrey, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, in 1898, Baron Farquhar, of Saint Marylebone in the County of London, in 1898, and Viscount Farquhar, of Saint Marylebone in the County of London, in 1917. Farquhar was the fifth son of Sir Walter Minto Townsend-Farquhar, 2nd Baronet, of Mauritius (see Farquhar Baronets for earlier history of the family). The title became extinct on Lord Farquhar's death in 1923.

The family surname is pronounced "Fark"-wa".
