map_caption=Location of the Kitzbühel AlpsThe Kitzbühler Alpen (Kitzbühel Alps) are amountain range of theCentral Eastern Alps surrounding thetown ofKitzbühel inAustria , spanning from theZillertal and theTux Alps in the west to theSaalach River andZell am See in the east. They are bordered on the south by theZillertal Alps and theHohe Tauern mountain range on the other side of theSalzach River, on the north by theInn River and theNorthern Limestone Alps .Their mainly soft appearance make them suitable for alpine farming,
hiking andskiing . Their highest peaks are concentrated to the south-western corner and reach rather modest 2500 m, e.g. the Kreuzjoch (2558 m).Roughly in the centre of the range lies the famous
ski resort ofKitzbühel , the venue of the Hahnenkamm race, one of the most spectacular and well-known ski races in the world.
