[http://www.newsweek.com/id/39380/?s=ca#Hawthorne] The current Principal is Joaquin Hernandez. The Assistant Principal is Esau Berumen (Former Biology Dept. Head). It is located at 4467 West Broadway in Hawthorne. The mission of HMSA is to provide high school students a rigorous, in-depth education, with a special emphasis on mathematics and science. Its first class to ever graduate had its commencement ceremony in June 2007.

Qualifications for Graduation

To be able to graduate from HMSA you must complete:

*4 years of Laboratory Science
*4 years of English
*4 years of Math
*3 years of History/Social Science
*3 years of a Foreign Language
*2 years of Physical Education
*2 years of Visual and Performing Arts
*1 year of Technology/Computer Science
*1 semester of Health

You must also have a total of 225 credits.

Clubs/Activities

HMSA started out with a vision that it would be focused on academics and just that. Throughout the years, we have put together just a few clubs and activities.There is:
