Granby, Nottinghamshire

Granby, Nottinghamshire

Granby is a small village in the Vale of Belvoir. It has a population of about 300 people, and is situated about 14 miles east of Nottingham.

The parish church of All Saints is 12th century.

There is no longer a school in Granby. In its place is the village hall. Most children attend Orston Primary School, or Toothill Comprehensive in the nearby market town of Bingham.

References

There are two pubs in the village. The Marquis of Granby (possibly the original of that name) serves a wide range of real ales and has won many awards for the quality of its beer. The Boot & Shoe also serves ales and lagers.

A new event will be starting this summer, aimed at introducing a family event for villagers and visitors. There will be the usual mix of stalls, competitions, music and dancing along with a real ale beer tent. It is hoped the event will be held annually and will be known as the Granby & Sutton Summer Solstice Weekend.
