open source Hotfix andService Pack slipstreaming utility designed to updateWindows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, and 2003 SP1/SP2 installation sources. A 64-bit version is in development. HFSLIP is one of the more technically difficult slipstreaming utilities available compared to software likenLite . But it is open source and more flexible than many of the alternatives while offering a greater degree of user control. In addition to hotfixes and service packs, HFSLIP can slipstream other Microsoft updates such asInternet Explorer ,DirectX 9.0c,Windows Media Player , and Windows Media Codecs. It can also integrate third-partydevice driver updates, including theDriverPacks .HFSLIP slipstreams the binaries (individual files) of most service packs and individual hotfixes directly. This means that original files are replaced with the newer versions in the updates from the Microsoft Download Center. Some hotfixes are non-standard or require a special installation procedure; HFSLIP integrates these instead, placing them as they are in the SVCPACK folder, to be installed automatically near the end of Windows setup.
