O.S Durisamy Gounder is a politician from Tamil Nadu. Gounder, commonly known as OSD is from a wealthy, landowning family. As a seasoned politician and well polished man, he held the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) positions in the State Assembly in Tamil Nadu, India in the Cabinet of M. G. Ramachandran.
Community service
Gounder was responsible for building the Arachali Amman Temple at Arachalur, and a new Lord Murugan temple on top of Nagamalai at Arachalur (which is his home town). He was also one of the key people responsible for bringing the Navarasam Arts and Science College for Women in Nagamalai, Arachalur.
Personal life
Gounder lives with his adopted son Sathyamoorthi and his wife Ranjitham Duraisamy, who is continuing her husbands community works. He is a close relative of Late Mr Paramasivam IAS - Personnel secretary of Ex Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran.
Place
Gounder hails from Kottarathottom,[clarification needed] Arachalur. The place is a coconut grove on the banks of the Bhavani River Arakonkottai kalvai.[clarification needed]
