The Golden Mile (La Milla de Oro) is a term for a stretch of land that lays home to a group of wineries in the province of
Castilla y Leon ,Spain . Geographically they lay along the Duero river starting at Tudela de Duero in the West and continuing on until it reaches Peñafiel in the East along the N-122 motorway. The wineries associated with this strip of land are some of the more influential wineries located in Spain and produce some of the most exclusive wines. They include:Vega Sicilia , Pingus,Abadia Retuerta ,Alion ,Mauro ,Pingón andHacienda Monasterio . The specialterroir of this area provides optimal conditions for growing among othersTempranillo ,Cabernet Sauvignon , andSyrah . Known mainly for their red wines some of the producers have attempted to produce decent white wines often to mixed results.External links
