The Direct Selling Association (DSA) is the name of several similar trade associations in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand that represent direct selling companies, including those that use multi-level marketing compensation plans or party plan product demonstrations.
In the United States
The American DSA is the national trade association of leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers typically through in-home or person-to-person sales.
Founded in Binghamton, New York in 1910, the association was originally called the Agents Credit Association. It became the Direct Selling Association in 1968.[1] In 2011, nearly 200 companies are members of the DSA and pledge to abide by its code of ethics.[2]
It is a member of the National Retail Federation.
In the United Kingdom
In 2011, over 40 companies are full members of the UK DSA.[3]
In Australia
In Australia, this association is called the Direct Selling Association of Australia (DSAA). In 2011, nearly 70 companies are full members of the DSAA.[4]
In Israel
In 2011, 7 companies are full members of the Israeli DSA.[5]
