governing_body = The Tate House is an historic property east ofTate, Georgia onGeorgia State Route 53 , built for Samuel Tate in 1923. Designed byWalker and Weeks , architects in the Neo-Classical style, the home is made of pink and white marble supplied by Tate'sGeorgia Marble Company , and sometimes called the "Pink Palace".The Tate House is two stories, rectangular, with a hipped roof, two interior chimneys, and a pedimented tetrastyle front entrance portico. At the rear is a slightly projecting pedimentedsection with a one story portico. The interior features excellent mural wallpaper and parquetmarble floors.
The house was listed on the
National Register of Historic Places onMay 17 1974 . The house is privately owned and is open for tours on certain days, it may be rented for special events, such as weddings and receptions.References
