Vorokhta ( _uk. Ворохта, _pl. Worochta) is a tourist spa town, located in Western
Ukraine , in theCarpathian Mountains . It has only around 5,000 inhabitants, but due to a constant flow of tourists, its population almost year round is bigger. Located on the height of 800 meters above sea level, it is famous for its close ties to theHutsuls - an ethno-cultural group of Ukrainians who live in the Carpathians, often regarded as a Hutsul capital.Vorokhta is surrounded by the Carpathian National Nature Park, it also is the center of winter sports, with several ski-lifts. In 1919-1939 it belonged to
Poland and was known all over the country, attracting many tourists, fascinated both by the mountains and the Hutsuls.
