Perfect Match (American game show)

"Perfect Match" was an American game show where three happily married couples tried to answer their spouse's questions to win money. The show aired in syndication from January 13, 1986 to September 12, 1986 and was hosted by Bob Goen, with Johnny Gilbert as announcer. This was Bob's first game show. Perfect Match was produced and distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures, the second game show to be distributed from that company after Lorimar Productions purchased Telepictures in 1985, and served as a midseason replacement for another game show, "Catch Phrase", which they had also distributed.

Main Game

Three recently married couples tried to match their spouse's answers, in hoping they really knew each other. In Round 1, with the wives secluded offstage, the husbands had a chance to be asked a series of questions, including provocative and/or secretive ones they don't know about, just before the wives had answered the questions. In Round 2, the role was reversed as the husbands were secluded offstage, the wives had a chance to be asked a series of different questions, just before the husbands would get a chance to match their wives' answers. Each couple started with bankroll of $200. For each question, the player would wager anywhere from $10 to the entire bankroll. A match added the wager to the couple's score, while failing to match would deduct the wager.

Bonus Round

After two rounds of play, all three couples got the chance to compete against each other writing a series of "Love Notes" for only the husband and the wife. In this round, the husbands and their wives each got a chance to complete both of them by filling in the blanks with the words that were associated with each phrase that a spouse had already said. When the women made a match, the couple received $100. When the husbands matched, it was worth $200. Should a couple correctly match all of the answers in the "Love Notes" round, the couple won $5,000 in cash. All couples got to keep their money. The couple who had the most money won a bonus of $1,000.
