twintowns = |Bondo is a municipality in the district of Maloja in the Swiss canton of
Graubünden .It is located on the Swiss–Italian border.
The municipality is predominantly Italian-speaking, although the Italian spoken includes a dialect of the Romansh language.
The village lies on the valley floor of the Val Bregaglia (known as "Bergell" in German). The valley floor is so deep that parts of the village do not receive any sunlight in winter.
Jerome de Salis-Soglio (1709–94), born in
Chur but a naturalized British subject, built a large house on the edge of village for his wife, the Hon. Mary Fane, a daughter of the first Lord Fane. When Mary Fane and Jerome returned to England their second son, Peter, completed the building, although neither Jerome nor Mary saw it finished.External links
