It signed on an FM counterpart, WWOL-FM, in 1954. During the 1990s, the station simulcast sister station
WHTT-FM as WHTT-AM. The station was sold toMercury Communications in the 1990s and changed its format to abrokered programming format as WMNY.The WBBF calls were used on several radio stations in nearby Rochester for over fifty years, including stations now known as WROC,
WBZA and most recently,WFKL , who dropped the calls in early 2005. Then-WMNY picked up the WBBF calls shortly thereafter.The station had been a part of the "Totally Gospel" network until December 2006, when said format moved to a stronger 24 hour signal on sister
WHLD .The station is now a Spanish language music and talk station, operating under the name Fiesta Latina - La Voz de la Communidad. All of the Spanish Language programming on WBBF is locally produced in Buffalo, New York.
WBBF is also a
Pacifica Radio affiliate, broadcasting theDemocracy Now! news program withAmy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez weekdays at 8:00 AM. The Pacifica programming is supported by the community media group. Said programming was displaced when WHLD dropped its progressive talk format.External links
