Anchorage Provincial Park (1.39 km²) is located on the south-east coast of Grand Manan Island, between Grand Harbour and Seal Cove in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada. The island, the largest in the Bay of Fundy, is also the primary island in the Grand Manan Archipelago, sitting at the boundary between the Bay of Fundy and the Gulf of Maine.
Activities
The park offers a number of hiking and cycling trails. The Red Point Trail boardwalk is wheelchair accessible. Other trails are Long Pond, Great Pond and Bagley's. Walking on the ocean floor at low tide - the world's highest tides are located in the Bay of Fundy - is perfect for beachcombers. Other activities: sea kayaking, whale-watching and bird-watching. As many as 275 different bird species can be seen on Grand Manan. The park has several blinds for better bird viewing.
Panoramic views of the bay can be found in the park where there are 100 campsites, tent cabins, showers, laundry facilities, kitchen shelter and barbecue pits.
Access
Access to the island is by toll-ferry from Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, approx. 32 km away (1.5 hours). There is also a ferry to the smaller White Head Island, New Brunswick. The nearest large city to the Blacks Harbour ferry terminal is Saint John, New Brunswick. (75 km).
