After the graduation from Kotogaoka High School, he joined
J. League side Gamba Osaka in 1998. He was transferred toConsadole Sapporo in 2000 and helped them to promote to J. League Division 1. He moved toVissel Kobe in 2002 and became one of the key players in the team. He scored 17 goals in the 2004 season, which made him the third most prolific goalscorer in the league. He then returned to Gamba in 2006 and his good form earned him a call-up to the national team.He represented Japan at the Under-19 and Under-20 levels. He was a member of the Japan team for
1999 FIFA World Youth Championship held in Nigeria. He made his senior national team debut onOctober 4 ,2006 , in a friendly match against Ghana when he replacedSatoru Yamagishi in the 67th minute. His first goal for his country came on October 11, 2006 in an Asian Cup qualifier against India. He was chosen for the2007 AFC Asian Cup finals but had to withdraw due to injury.Honors and awards
