1880 English cricket season

The 1880 English cricket season saw the second tour by a representative Australian side, who took part in the first Test Match to be played in England. County cricket was dominated by the Notts bowlers Alfred Shaw and Fred Morley.

Leading batsmen

Billy Barnes was the leading runscorer with 1220 @ 28.37. W.G. Grace had the best average of those playing in more than a single match, 39.62, though he narrowly missed reaching one thousand runs for the season.

Leading bowlers

Alfred Shaw was the leading wicket-taker with 186 @ 8.54 and his Notts colleague Fred Morley took 184 @ 12.26.
