Created in 1973, granted UK Sports Council Recognised Governing Body status in 1980 [ [http://www.sportengland.org/index/about_sport_england/about_who/recognition_of_activities.htm#governing Recognition of activities and governing bodies ] ] , it represents over 10,000 practitioners in over 75 organisations/associations.
