R&B /hip-hop singer Mercedes was born Raequel Miller inLouisiana in 1978 and grew up inDetroit , attending the city's High School for the Fine and Performing Arts and participating in the spiritually oriented Brazeal Dennard Youth Chorale. While studying music atXavier University of Louisiana inNew Orleans , she came to the attention of Master P at a talent show, and was signed toMaster P 'sNo Limit Records immediately and christened Mercedes. She released one album entitledRear End in 1999. The album, like most of No Limit's releases, featured other No Limit performing artists such asMystikal , Mac,Mia X ,Silkk the Shocker andMaster P . "Rear End " showcased Mercedes' range as a rapper and singer/songwriter with a blend of hip-hop and R&B. The album cover forRear End shows Mercedes bent over the hood of a Mercedes wearing a pair of revealing shorts and high heels.
