Lakshman Prabhu

Lakshman Prabhu was a minister in the court of the Silhara dynasty that ruled the islands that today constitute the Indian city of Mumbai. He is known for overseeing the construction of the famous Walkeshwar Temple and the adjoining Banganga Tankin 1127 AD.This temple was then destroyed by the Portuguese and was rebuilt in 1711 in South Mumbai precincts of the Mumbai city [ [http://www.gsbkonkani.net/TEMPLES/BANGANGA%20SHRI%20WALKESHWAR.htm Banganga, Walkeshwar history] ] .

A recent decision of the High court, lays down that, the Shenvis claim is not founded on any solid basis and the Government now claims most of the Village, Hill and the properties. Walkeshwer at present with 24 Tempel and a place of Worship to hindus surrounding BANAGANGA.
