Racine Lutheran High School is a small, private high school located in Racine, Wisconsin.
The school was founded in 1944, and has an average enrollment of about 250 students. One of the school's main goals is to mix in teaching of faith into daily school life.
Academics
Christian education in the Lutheran tradition is tied into daily school life for all students at school. The ratio of student to teacher per class is 14:1. About 90% of graduating students from Lutheran High go on to a four year college. Racine Lutheran is also gifted with great academics as well. Their JETS team won the state quizbowl tournament and is now ranked as the smartest team in the state of Wisconsin. The school is unusually small, but it has more to offer than some public school around the area.
Athletics
Racine Lutheran offers a range of sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, football, golf, baseball, chearleading, and track. The mascot at Racine Lutheran or RLHS is the Crusader and the school colors are purple and gold. Due to the rather low enrollment of students (approx. 220 per year), sports teams often are low on Athletes, but somehow manage to make sports teams that often wins conference titles and sometimes even go to state. For example, their football team has made it to the state playoffs the last 10 years straight, and have won two straight conference titles and has won three in the last 4 years. In 2006 the football was 11-1 and made it to the third round of the playoffs the farthest since the W.I.A.A., and also was ranked 5th in the state. Also, they have been named Conference fairly frequently, but only made it to the Sate Championship game once and became runner-up in the state in 1979. Everybody cares. For baseball, Lutheran High has a combined team with The Prairie School, because neither school has enough interested students to win a game.
