Lt-Col Sir Walter Henry Bromley-Davenport TD DL (1903 –
26 December 1989 ) was a British Conservative Party politician.The son of Walter A. Bromley-Davenport, of
Capesthorne Hall ,Macclesfield ,Cheshire , and Lilian Lane, he was educated atMalvern School .He joined the
Grenadier Guards in 1922 and at the outbreak ofWorld War II he raised and commanded the 5th Battalion of theCheshire Regiment .He was Conservative Member of Parliament for Knutsford from 1945 until 1970, and was a Conservative Whip from 1948-51. He was a member of the
British Boxing Board of Control from 1953. He was appointedDeputy Lieutenant of Cheshire in 1949 and knighted in 1961.His son
William Arthur Bromley-Davenport was laterHigh Sheriff of Cheshire andLord Lieutenant of Cheshire .
