King's Highway (Charleston to Boston)
- King's Highway (Charleston to Boston)
The King's Highway is a route over convert|1300|mi|km|1 in length in the eastern United States. It joins Charleston, South Carolina, to Boston, Massachusetts, including the older Boston Post Road. It was named after Charles II of England, who in 1650 directed his colonial governors to build it. It did not become a continuous wagon road until 1735. The part north of New York City became the Upper Boston Post Road. ["Map Guide to American Migration Routes, 1735-1815" by William Dollarhide, Heritage Quest, 1997, ISBN 1-877677-74-4]
