Hopkins Architects (formerly Michael Hopkins and Partners) is a prominent British
architect ural firm established in 1976 by Michael and Patricia Hopkins. The practice has won many awards for its work and has twice been shortlisted for theStirling Prize , including in 2006 forEvelina Children's Hospital . The founders were awarded theRoyal Institute of British Architects Royal Gold Medal in 1994 and Michael Hopkins was awarded theCBE and knighted for services to architecture.The practice is known for its innovative approach to construction and its energy-efficient designs. Its first building outside of the UK was a headquarters for GEK in
Athens in 2003, followed byTokyo 's Shin-Marunouchi Tower in 2007. In addition to its London base in Marylebone the practice has an office inDubai . In theUSA the practice is currently working on new buildings for Yale, Princeton, and Rice universities.So far in 2007, Hopkins has won two major architectural competitions: the new Cyprus Cultural Centre in
