Pirates of the Frozen North

Pirates of the Frozen North is an expansion set to the constructible strategy game Pirates of the Spanish Main, by WizKids. It was released on February 14th, 2007

It includes "modern" Vikings, viking longships, icebreakers and Icebergs (which was a new piece of terrain in this set). The icebergs will be able to move around and hit ships. There are also magic runes(unique treasures), and various other ways to destroy ships. The icebreakers, resembling Greek galleys, gain a bonus when ramming. WizKids will bring back the "Marine" keyword which has not been seen since Barbary Coast. Also to add to the story line, the Vikings are opposed against The Cursed and many gain bonus when fighting them.

Also there was a new promotion. If one can collect four special tokens (a spear, shield, helmet and an axe), four game pack wrappers, original receipts from a non-internet retailer, and the downloadable coupon from the WizKids website, one can receive a special "Nordic Raiders Pack". These tokens are now considered somewhat rare, in contrast to the last set's collectible pack inserts, which could be found in every pack.

This was the first set to number its Islands, making collecting easier.

New Keywords:Longship- You roll two dice for each cannon on a ship with this keyword. Each cannon is considered a separate attack. She gets +1 to her boarding rolls, she can't be pinned or pin, can rotate on her stern, and can move a short when derelict.

Icebreaker- This ship ignores terrain, except icebergs, when she is given a move action. This ship can ram an iceberg as if ramming an enemy ship. If she does, remove the iceberg from the game. This ship is not pinned.
