issues= Saint Ivo of Huntingdonshire (also known as Ives) was an Englishbishop andhermit .Nothing is known of Ivo's life other than the fact that he lived near the town of Slepe, since renamed in his honor to St. Ives. He appears to have been of
Persia n origin. According to legend, he enjoyed honor and luxury in his homeland, but he yearned for a more ascetic life. So, together with his three companions he traveled to and settled in the wild
fenland ofHuntingdonshire . The site of his burial was lost for years, but was uncovered in1001 when four bodies were found in an unmarked grave; one bore theinsignia of a bishop, and soon a locallayman learned in a vision that it was Ivo's. All four bodies were translated to theRamsey Abbey , and a healing spring, at which many miracles were allegedly performed, appeared near the site of their interment. After another vision, the brothers at Ramsey returned the bodies of Ivo's companions to Slepe.Ivo is the
patron saint of the town in Huntingdonshire that bears his name; his feast day isApril 24 .ee also
